We are an independent UK based design studio where we are obsessed by everything from fleece to fibre & beyond.
The Lace Knittery is a fibre design studio based in rural Somerset and was founded in 2013 by our designer Debbie.
She is a self confessed fibre addict and has been knitting, crocheting, spinning, weaving and dyeing for a number of years.
Each design is a moment captured in time and is inspired by the beauty, myth and magic of these British Isles. Each Lace Knittery yarn and fibre is hand painted using acid dye techniques or naturally dyed often using foraged materials from the garden, kitchen and around the studio.
We stock heritage brands, our own patterns and hand painted and natural dyed yarn and fibre as well as premium fibres for felting and spinning.
Commitment to heritage, premium natural fibres, promoting traditional skills and ethical production are at the heart of everything we do. All The Lace Knittery products are produced in house in Somerset.
As part of this commitment we are really proud to be able to stock online and in studio the following Heritage and Ethical fibres and yarns.
Jamiesons of Shetland; Spindrift and Heather Yarn
Jamieson and Smith; Shetland Heritage and 1ply Cobweb Yarn.
Knoll Kilcarra Donegal: The only true Donegal yarn available spun in the last remaining mill in Donegal.
Fern hill Fibre; holistically produced and organic fleece and yarn from Somerset.
Moonlight Forge; Hand forged shawl pins made in Cornwall.
And a wide range of carded fibre and custom blended batts for spinning and felting in both dyed and British natural fibres, recycled sari silk and hand spun yarn.
