A lovely DK yarn from Rowan. It is a chained construction and the yak fibre gives it a lustrous sheen. The high cotton content makes it the perfect transitional yarn, great for spring and autumn. The chain construction also makes it great for crochet as it does not split. We have used it at The Lace Knittery HQ for both garments and accessories and the drape is wonderful.

A beautiful fade yarn from Scheepjes. It is double knit and fades through the colours as you knit. Each Cake is 450g and a whopping 1000m which means even though they are appear to be a considered purchase there is more than enough yarn to complete a whole garment. I managed to knit a large shawl, scarf and wristlets from a single cake. The yarn glides smoothly and is a pleasure to use.
Each is packed in it’s own cardboard box making them a great gift too!

A great yarn for adding instant interest or using not only in knitting or crochet but also in many other crafts. It makes great hair on dolls!

The original yarn that The Lace Knittery started the company with. It is 70% kid mohair and 30% silk, lace weight and 420m per skein. It knits to the same gauge as Rowan Kidsilk Haze.
Each colour is hand painted at The Lace Knittery using an acid dye technique in small batches. The colours are all moments in time and I can take you to each and every spot that inspired the colour way.

At The Lace Knittery we hand paint and naturally dye our own range of yarns and fibre. All are natural fibres and traceable to source, ethically produced and in our dyeing processes do not use harsh chemicals.
The hand painted range is dyed by me at The Lace Knittery HQ in Somerset. Each skein has the colour applied by hand and pushed in inch by inch. This means an even colour, no gaps and a soft drift of colours across the skein.
They are washed several times to remove any excess dye.
They are all inspired by the world around me and the myth, magic and beauty of these British Isles.
Each skein is 100g 800m (enough to knit an entire wrap)
70% baby alpaca, 20% silk 10% cashmere.

I love this yarn it is one of my favourites to both dye and use. It is lace weight and is a mix of a British wool breed and silk. It has incredible lustre and drape. Blue Faced Leicester breed has a property like linen in that it gets softer with use and age. A single skein is enough for an entire wrap.
Each skein is 100g/800m. 55% blue faced Leicester wool, 45% silk. Lace weight.

At The Lace Knittery we have been naturally dyeing yarn and fibre for over fifteen years. We use materials from the garden, kitchen, foraged from the countryside around us and from sustainable sources. The process leaves nothing but clear water at the end and produces a range of colours. Custom dye works are available. Please contact us for details.

I know we are called The Lace Knittery but we do like crochet too! This pattern I designed to be used in any weight yarn. It twirls by itself and all the finishing that is required is a weaving in of ends.
It can be any length and is a good stash buster. The yarn in the photo is a DK weight natural baby alpaca, silk and cashmere yarn available from The Lace Knittery.
