    I have always encouraged and found that inspiration is everywhere. This cowl pattern takes it’s inspiration from The Red Hot Chilli Peppers song ‘Can’t Stop’ and specifically the music video!

    It is a cowl knitted in the round in sock weight yarn. You can knit all one colour or stripe as the example. The choice is yours. It has tubes around the right side which are not visible from the wrong/side next to your skin. It can be worn in several ways, looping twice around your neck, knotted to worn loose. It suits all…have fun.

    It requires 450m of sock weight yarn. For the two coloured version 225m of each colour.

    This DK yarn from Fyberspates is something special. It is 100% superwash merino wool from Peru (no mulesing!) and is variegated. The dyeing process is twofold making each skein unique. If you want to use more than one in a project just alternate the skeins.

    One skein will easily make a scarf and the feel and drape is superb. At The Lace Knittery we have used it in a variety of projects and the colour variations does not distract from any surface design.

    The Lace Knittery HQ is in South Somerset and I am often crossing the Somerset levels, travelling towards Greylake I am often the only car on the road and I am joined by a barn owl ghosting along the road next to me. There is nothing for it but to slow down and enjoy the flight of this wonderful bird.

    The wrap has an all over feather pattern. It is knitted straight on 4mm needles and requires 800m of lace weight yarn. The yarn in the pattern is extra fine merino, silk and sparkle yarn hand dyed by The Lace Knittery.

    Jamieson and Smith Supreme 1 ply cobweb yarn is 100% Shetland yarn produced on Shetland. It is traditionally used for shawls, and yes, The Lace Knittery has used for a wedding ring shawl (it takes a couple of rows to get used to then it seems natural to be knitting with something this fine). It is is the natural fleece colours.

    Here at The Lace Knittery this heritage yarn holds a special place in our hearts. It was the inspiration many years ago to learn to knit and our love for lace knitting and colour work and ultimately beginning the company.

    It is 100% Shetland wool, produced by over 300 crofters on Shetland. It is also spun and dyed on Shetland. It is available in over 220 colours and natural shades of the Shetland sheep.

    It is traditionally used for fair isle knitting and gets softer with use and age. It is easy to weave in the ends and block.

    It is lace/fingering/4ply weight. Each ball is 25g/105m.

    Gauge 30stitches x32 rows =10cm/4inch square using US3/3.25 mm needles.
