  • Fernhill fibre naturally dyed yarns

    £12.00

Fernhill is a farm a few miles away from The Lace Knittery and it is a special place to visit. They farm holistically and organically and have transformed the soil on the farm. The sheep breeds have been selected as most suitable for the environment and they are breed for the quality of their fleece. It is a magical place.

The yarn is spun into a two ply just over the border in Wales meaning total yarn mileage to The Lace Knittery is kept to a minimum.
This yarn forms part of The Lace Knittery Natural Selection where we naturally dye in house. The dyes are either foraged locally (often from the garden or outside The Lace Knittery HQ) or ethically sourced. At the end of the dyeing process only clear water is left.

Each skein is 100g/405m lace weight. It is soft to work with and easy to use.

  • Greylake Guardian Wrap PDF knitting pattern download

    £4.20

The Lace Knittery HQ is in South Somerset and I am often crossing the Somerset levels, travelling towards Greylake I am often the only car on the road and I am joined by a barn owl ghosting along the road next to me. There is nothing for it but to slow down and enjoy the flight of this wonderful bird.

The wrap has an all over feather pattern. It is knitted straight on 4mm needles and requires 800m of lace weight yarn. The yarn in the pattern is extra fine merino, silk and sparkle yarn hand dyed by The Lace Knittery.

  • Jamieson and Smith Supreme 1 ply Cobweb Yarn

    £5.10

Jamieson and Smith Supreme 1 ply cobweb yarn is 100% Shetland yarn produced on Shetland. It is traditionally used for shawls, and yes, The Lace Knittery has used for a wedding ring shawl (it takes a couple of rows to get used to then it seems natural to be knitting with something this fine). It is is the natural fleece colours.

  • Kidsilk Haze

    £10.50

One of Rowans most popular yarns Kidsilk Haze blends the soft halo of kid mohair with the vibrant shine  of silk. It comes in a stunning range of 80 colours.  Kidsilk haze has long been a favourite of lace knitters as it creates incredibly warm garments that appear to float on air. This yarn can also be paired with another to make it thicker while giving it a subtle halo.

    Suggested needle size: 3.25mm – 5mm

  • Krea Deluxe silk mohair yarn

    £10.75

A simply stunning yarn from Krea Deluxe but I may be biased because I love lace yarns, natural fibres and soft, restful colours. This yarn ticks all those boxes and can be used on it’s own or with another. It works well with the Krea wool as well as with silk or other natural yarns but does look and feel stunning on it’s own. I am in love and want to snaffle it all.

Each ball is 20g/240m. 45% silk, 33% mohair, 22% baby alpaca.
Handwash and do not tumble dry.

  • Kremke superfine cobweb merino

    £9.50

A beautiful mulesing free merino from Kremke Soul wool. It is lace weight 30/2 with 750m on each spool. One would be enough to knit a cobweb scarf but the range of colours work really well when combining and working graduated colour work. They can be used together, work extremely well with the Kremke Stellaris and also with any other yarn.

Each spool is 50g/750m. Washable at 30 degrees.
If used on it’s own 1.5-2mm needle or hook and 40stitches x 50 rows for a standard 10cm/4inch gauge square.
