The original yarn that The Lace Knittery started the company with. It is 70% kid mohair and 30% silk, lace weight and 420m per skein. It knits to the same gauge as Rowan Kidsilk Haze.
Each colour is hand painted at The Lace Knittery using an acid dye technique in small batches. The colours are all moments in time and I can take you to each and every spot that inspired the colour way.

At The Lace Knittery we hand paint and naturally dye our own range of yarns and fibre. All are natural fibres and traceable to source, ethically produced and in our dyeing processes do not use harsh chemicals.
The hand painted range is dyed by me at The Lace Knittery HQ in Somerset. Each skein has the colour applied by hand and pushed in inch by inch. This means an even colour, no gaps and a soft drift of colours across the skein.
They are washed several times to remove any excess dye.
They are all inspired by the world around me and the myth, magic and beauty of these British Isles.
Each skein is 100g 800m (enough to knit an entire wrap)
70% baby alpaca, 20% silk 10% cashmere.

I designed this The Lace Knittery pattern to make something cute, warm and wearable. It is also a great stash buster using only 10g of yarn. It has an allover lace pattern and can be worked using up to DK weight yarn.
I love this yarn it is one of my favourites to both dye and use. It is lace weight and is a mix of a British wool breed and silk. It has incredible lustre and drape. Blue Faced Leicester breed has a property like linen in that it gets softer with use and age. A single skein is enough for an entire wrap.
Each skein is 100g/800m. 55% blue faced Leicester wool, 45% silk. Lace weight.

I find inspiration everywhere and The Lace Knittery Lavender Fields Wrap was inspired by a holiday to the south of France. We had two small children in the back of the car and pulled off the autoroute and then stopped dead for two hours in a traffic jam. Within ten minutes we had exhausted I spy, and had been asked ‘are we there yet’ along with ‘I need a wee’, ‘she hit me’, ‘no she hit me’, ‘I’m hungry” and ‘are we there yet’…they only survived because I was looking over long lines of purple lavender with mountains beyond!
It is a lovely pattern that is eight rows. It has been worked in any weight yarn from lace to aran. The pattern is written for lace weight and if using up to DK weight yarn follow exactly. Above this weight just go up on the needle size. It requires 800m of yarn.
At The Lace Knittery I am slightly addicted to scarves. They are pretty and practical and are small enough projects to take with you. This The Lace Knittery Pattern is our best selling mermaid wrap in a scarf form. It is knitted straight and then joined into a mobius shape at the end…or not!
It is knitted in 400m of lace weight yarn but the pattern will work up to a DK weight. The yarn in the photo is kid mohair and silk hand painted by The Lace Knittery
This The Lace Knittery wrap pattern is based on a Shetland stitch and was inspired by a rockhounding day on the Bristol Channel. The sea was like glass, there was no one in sight and I had just found out that razor clams were called mermaid combs on this patch of coastline. I was pondering this as I wandered along and some porpoise broke the surface a few feet from shore…magical!
It is a rectangular wrap and is knitted using 650-800m of lace weight yarn. The yarn in the photo is a hand painted blue faced leicester and silk mix from The Lace Knittery.
At The Lace Knittery we have been naturally dyeing yarn and fibre for over fifteen years. We use materials from the garden, kitchen, foraged from the countryside around us and from sustainable sources. The process leaves nothing but clear water at the end and produces a range of colours. Custom dye works are available. Please contact us for details.

I love little projects, they are so much fun. I designed this The Lace Knittery pattern to echo the cables motif from The Penryn Poncho pattern. This was inspired by the celtic crosses in the magical county of Cornwall. It can be knitted in any weight yarn from sock to aran.
Yarn in the photo is a hand painted DK weight yarn from The Lace Knittery. One skein at least 100m only required.
The Lace Knittery Scrumper Scarf is inspired by my favourite blackberrying spot. This little scarf is triangular in shape and is perfect for keeping you warm when rambling. It is knitted side to side and has a cable pattern along each edge. It is a perfect first project for someone looking to try cables but is nice for a quick make for a more experienced knitter.
It is knitted in Rowan Felted Tweed and requires one ball.
At The Lace Knittery we love dyeing and natural fibres. I have been asked for super chunky yarn and I am loving the dyeing process of this, my favourite fibre. As usual at the end of our dyeing all that is left is clear water and crummy yarn.
Each ball is super chunky 100% British Blue Faced Leicester or a Blue Faced Leicester and Silk mix. Hand dyed in house by The Lace Knittery.
200g/130m with a recommended needle or hook size of 10-12mm.

I designed The Lace Knittery Tassel Hat pattern many years ago and it has grown with my family. It is sized from child to adult. It is knitted in the round and you can finish with two, three or four tassels or pompoms. It makes your head bounce and puts a smile on your face when you wear it. It can be knitted in any weight yarn. The pattern is for DK to aran weight and uses 200m.
The yarn in the photo is a lace weight baby alpaca and is available from The Lace Knittery.
I know we are called The Lace Knittery but we do like crochet too! This pattern I designed to be used in any weight yarn. It twirls by itself and all the finishing that is required is a weaving in of ends.
It can be any length and is a good stash buster. The yarn in the photo is a DK weight natural baby alpaca, silk and cashmere yarn available from The Lace Knittery.
At The Lace Knittery we like fun designs that do the work for you. The Lace Knittery Twirly Scarf pattern uses a short row technique and the pattern does all the work. The only finishing the design requires is weaving in of ends.
It is designed for any weight yarn. It can be knitted in any length and the pattern has three possible patterns.
The Lace Knittery Twirly Shawl pattern is great for any weight yarn and is a great beginner pattern but fun for experienced knitters also. It uses a short row technique and simple stitches. I have signed the pattern to do all the work for you. It is triangular and takes 800m of lace weight yarn. It is interchangeable on yarn weight up to DK.
