A beautiful book by Marie Wallin and one that is a favourite of The Lace Knittery’s customers. It is a celebration of colour work, Fair Isle, cable and crochet.
The final collection from Marie Wallin and Rowan and it is as usual a beautiful collection of timeless colour work, Fair Isle, cable and lace designs. It uses Rowan’s Felted Tweed yarn which we are proud to stock at The Lace Knittery.
Bold Beginner Knits is excellent for newer knitters wanting to progress but it has a range of good patterns that a more experienced knitter would enjoy. It is a favourite at The Lace Knittery where encouraging new knitters is a passion.
The Lace Knittery loves a book that gives you more and this book not only has twelve colourful accessory patterns but also recipes and a walk. The designs include mitts, socks, hats and decorations. One of the recipes is a The Lace Knittery personal favourite to make…and eat Cranachan.
We fell in love with this book at first sight at The Lace Knittery HQ. It is a book of eight varying patterns from beanies to sweaters using Stolen Stitches Nua Sport weight yarn. It is full of colour and cable design.
A book dedicated to a favourite of The Lace Knittery, this little book not only explores five designs for Haps (shawls). It includes colour work, lace knitting (yay!) and Shetland designs along with history of a remarkable incident and woman.
The island of Islay has inspired The Lace Knittery designs in both yarn and pattern and it continues it’s spell with Kate Davies Designs. This book is filled with a variety of designs from accessories to garments (the socks are on order from my husband to wear with his kilt!) along with essays on the Island culture and history. A beautiful book.
Here at The Lace Knittery this heritage yarn holds a special place in our hearts. It was the inspiration many years ago to learn to knit and our love for lace knitting and colour work and ultimately beginning the company.
It is 100% Shetland wool, produced by over 300 crofters on Shetland. It is also spun and dyed on Shetland. It is available in over 220 colours and natural shades of the Shetland sheep.
It is traditionally used for fair isle knitting and gets softer with use and age. It is easy to weave in the ends and block.
It is lace/fingering/4ply weight. Each ball is 25g/105m.
Gauge 30stitches x32 rows =10cm/4inch square using US3/3.25 mm needles.
Collection Two by Marie Wallin for Rowan comprising designs for women and the home. It champions a cause close to The Lace Knittery’s heart…the British wool industry.
In the word’s of The Lace Knittery’s youngest daughter ‘I want to knit every one’. Another great collection of eight hand knits from Marie Wallin for Rowan. It includes colour work, Fair Isle, and cable patterns.
Ahh…another great book from Kate Davies Designs full of great wearable patterns and everyone is on The Lace Knittery’s to do list. Lots of texture, colour and contemporary designs.
Another beautiful book by Marie Wallin filled with gentle colours and classic, vintage inspired designs. My to do list of do want to knit at The Lace Knittery has just gone up by eight.
It has colour work, Fair Isle, cable and crochet.
A gorgeous yarn from Carol Feller of Stolen Stitches and produced by Fyberspates. It is aran/worsted weight and is a blend of three different fibres, merino (from Peru and non mulesed), yak and linen. It is super soft with a wonderful drape. The yak fibre gives it a fleck.
Each skein is 50g/100m. 60% merino, 20% yak 20% linen.
An introduction to the wonderful (believe me it is) world of haps, the Scottish word for shawls or wraps. It explores the history and has thirteen different designs with colour work, lace and cable techniques all favourites at The Lace Knittery.
At The Lace Knittery we hand paint and naturally dye our own range of yarns and fibre. All are natural fibres and traceable to source, ethically produced and in our dyeing processes do not use harsh chemicals.
The hand painted range is dyed by me at The Lace Knittery HQ in Somerset. Each skein has the colour applied by hand and pushed in inch by inch. This means an even colour, no gaps and a soft drift of colours across the skein.
They are washed several times to remove any excess dye.
They are all inspired by the world around me and the myth, magic and beauty of these British Isles.
Each skein is 100g 800m (enough to knit an entire wrap)
70% baby alpaca, 20% silk 10% cashmere.
I always have cold hands and as such we are always knitting mitts at The Lace Knittery. This is a book dedicated to them! A collection of fifteen designs by old and new designers bought together by Kate Davies and Jeanette Sloan. There is something for everybody here including colour work, lace, cable, Fair Isle and more.
