At The Lace Knittery we love this stuff. It is the loom waste from saris produced in India and rather than going to landfill we use them. It gives extra income to the local workforce as well as saving something beautiful and useful from waste.
At The Lace Knittery HQ we have used it on it’s own to spin with, which it does like a dream on both drop spindles and spinning wheels. It blends beautifully with any other fibre and a little goes a long way, you only need about 10% to get the colour and effect. Our customers continually amaze us and love it as much as we do. They have used it to not only spin with but to (from the top!) wet felt, needle felt, knit with, crochet with, weave on a tablet loom, weave into knitting on a machine, make into bowls, couched in hand embroidery, used in machine embroidery and use in mixed media.
Each rope unplaits into a 100g ball. Mostly of silk but some cotton or other fibres may be in the mix.

With its fine weight and intense colour palette, Alpaca Classic is ideal for light weight yet warm garments particularly for fair isle patterns. Its gorgeously soft and fluffy feel is created by blowing alpaca fibres through a fine cotton mesh. It can be knitted as a DK or works well with larger needles for lace patterns.

A super squidgy soft yarn from Rowan. It has been at hit at The Lace Knittery HQ. Easy to work with and solid in colours. It blends the softness of alpaca with the strength from wool.

An aran weight version of the ever wonderful and versatile Felted Tweed yarn from Rowan. It comes in a range of classic colours and is great for cosy winter knits.

100% cotton bias binding from Sajou. Drawing on the heritage and inspiration of their native France and made by artisans and craftsmen across the country. Each is 3 m in length and 2cm deep. They are wound on Sajou vintage inspired cards. Custom amounts of this binding is available from 1/2m, please contact if you would like different amounts.
A beautiful range from Sajou of essential haberdashery in vintage inspired tins. Each tin opens and closes with a click/clack turning mechanism (remember them from shoe polish tins!) and as a vintage label to the front. I want them all.

These sewing boxes are beautiful, here at The Lace Knittery we keep ooooing over them. They contain all the essential supplies needed and are beautifully designed and made. A gift to yourself (me included!) or anyone.
Sajou is a French firm dedicated to bringing back the highest quality and heritage and keeping craftsmanship alive. These tape measures hark back to the treen made in the 18th and 19th centuries. They are a delight to handle and use. Each one comes in a vintage inspired box. I love them.
A beautiful fade yarn from Scheepjes. It is double knit and fades through the colours as you knit. Each Cake is 450g and a whopping 1000m which means even though they are appear to be a considered purchase there is more than enough yarn to complete a whole garment. I managed to knit a large shawl, scarf and wristlets from a single cake. The yarn glides smoothly and is a pleasure to use.
Each is packed in it’s own cardboard box making them a great gift too!

I love the book. It has been a favourite at The Lace Knittery for a few years. The designs are timeless and there is something for everyone. The designs are knitted in Jamieson of Shetland Spindrift yarn (The Lace Knittery stocks the entire 220+ colours) but would also work in Marie’s own British Breeds.
Ahh…another great book from Kate Davies Designs full of great wearable patterns and everyone is on The Lace Knittery’s to do list. Lots of texture, colour and contemporary designs.
